EDITOR: After reading the article about the Confederate flag, I noticed that
it appears that some of the students are trying to eradicate the historical
Confederate American flag plus burn the U.S. Constitution at the same time --
all while using the battle cry of ''tolerance'' to reach their
flag-eradication objectives.
As a Sonoma County citizen and having many Confederate ancestors, I've learned
from my studies that my Confederate ancestors just wanted peaceful
independence from an abusive federal government of the time and then were
forced to defend ''Home Sweet Home'' and rebel against the thousands of armed
federal invaders who committed atrocities against them and their families. I
must conclude that the students should be allowed their Constitutional right
to respectfully peacefully display the historic Confederate American flag.
To forcefully eradicate a historic American flag in the name of ''tolerance''
is a stunning contradiction.
