Two automotive legends will be on hand to greet fans during the holiday open house Sunday, Dec. 16, at Wine Country Motor Sports’ Sonoma Raceway, 29265 Arnold Drive. Kjell Qvale and Joe Huffaker Sr., who made racing history with their engineering technology and daring designs of race and sports cars, will greet fans at the raceway store from 1-2:30 p.m. The open house runs from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. with a display of 1960s vintage race cars and complimentary food and beverages. Kevin Nelson, author of a new book on Qvale, will join him to autograph copies of the book, “Lunches with Mr. Q: An Auto Titan on Business, Life and Sports Car Dreams.” Information: (800) 708-RACE or winecountrymotorsports.com.

Sonoma Valley musicians Sean Carscadden and Marty O’Reilly will perform songs from their new CD, “Broke the Moon,” Thursday, Dec. 20, at the final Locals’ Late Night event at Cornerstone Sonoma, 23570 Arnold Drive. The musicians will play two 45-minute sets beginning at 5 p.m. The event is part of the extended Thursday shopping hours and special offerings available to locals during the holidays until 7 p.m. Cornerstone’s 10 businesses include specialty shops, tasting rooms and art galleries plus Bruce Riezenman’s newly opened Park 121 Café. The Sonoma Valley Farmers’ Market offers more than natural foods and produce. It’s also a spot for holiday gift shopping. Artisans offer cards, ceramics, soaps and lotions, scarves, winter hats, wreaths, wooden bowls and more. Held from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Fridays, the market is located in the Arnold Field parking lot, 241 First St. W. In celebration of the holiday season, shoppers can enter to win a basket of market products during regular market hours on Friday (Dec. 21). The basket will be presented on Dec. 28.

The Sonoma Community Center has a holiday gift idea that keeps on giving: a center membership. Gift certificates offer a year of discounted classes, special opportunities and more. The center is a hub of activity, with live performances and a wide variety of classes, workshops and special programs. Customized certificates are available by calling 938-4626, ext. 1.
