Democrats plan inaugural breakfast, food drive
Sonoma Valley Democrats offers an opportunity to honor two American leaders — Martin Luther King Jr. and President Barack Obama.
The club is planning a no-host breakfast gathering at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow (Monday, Jan. 21) at the Black Bear Diner, 201 W. Napa St.
Guests can watch the second inauguration of the nation’s 44th president and also recognize Martin Luther King Jr. Day by helping with a food drive.
The Democrats will have a barrel available to fill with non-perishable food items for Friends in Sonoma Helping, a longtime charitable organization commonly known as FISH.
Canned food, rice, pasta and other non-perishable items (no ramen products) are acceptable.
Last month Sonoma Valley Democrats elected its 2013 officers. They are: Beth Hadley, president; Jay Ligon, vice president; Bob Baeyen, treasurer; and Carol Taylor, secretary. Tom Sokolowski is the outgoing president.
