LITTLE LEAGUE ALL-STAR TEAM ELIMINATED
The Petaluma Valley Little League majors' all-star team ended their
tournament run last weekend when they went 1-1 at the divisional tournament in
Corte Madera.
The team had won three tournaments and compiled a 10-1 record but was
eliminated in a pool play tournament and finished the all-star campaign with a
12-2 record.
Petaluma Valley's elimination was a difficult pill to swallow, Manager
Wayne Bryan said.
Up until last weekend, every tournament had been in the double-elimination
style. The divisional tournament was not, and despite winning their final game
of the season, the team was eliminated because it had allowed more runs in the
two-game span than River Park Little League, which also went 1-1 over the
weekend and lost to Petaluma Valley.
''It's unbelievable that a tournament of the divisional magnitude would be
run like a weekend travel-ball tournament,'' he said. ''We won our last game
but did not get a chance to lose on the field.''
