Three suspected DUI crashes over three days prompt plea from Rohnert Park police

Three suspected drunken drivers crashed in Rohnert Park in as many days, causing injuries to other drivers, Rohnert Park police said.

Two suspected DUI drivers fled the crashes, police said.

The string of collisions frustrated Rohnert Park authorities, who issued a plea for people to avoid drinking and driving and arrange for a sober driver.

The police also warned the public the city has a traffic officer dedicated to looking for impaired drivers.

On Saturday, Eddie Rogers, 42, of Novato, was arrested on suspicion of DUI after he turned into the path of another vehicle on Southwest Boulevard at Almond Avenue, police said.

Rogers was seen setting a can of alcohol onto a curb after the 6:10 p.m. crash, police said.

The woman driving the other car was taken to a hospital for evaluation, police said.

A day earlier, officers arrested Casandra Harden, 28, of Rohnert Park, suspecting her of three felony charges involving drunken driving and hit-and-run causing injuries.

Harden crashed into an oncoming Honda Civic around 6:20 p.m. Friday on Rohnert Park Expressway, as she turned into a grocery store parking lot, police said.

The 22-year-old Civic driver was found unconscious in his badly damaged car, which hit a tree. He remained hospitalized Monday.

Harden’s preliminary blood-alcohol level was 0.23%, nearly three times the legal limit, police said.

She remained in the county jail Monday on $100,000 bail.

On Thursday, Luis Ordonez Gumercindo, 40, of Petaluma, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and felony hit-and-run after crashing into another vehicle on Rohnert Park Expressway near the Highway 101 offramp.

Gumercindo ran from the crash and officers found him behind a nearby store, police said.

The 50-year-old driver of the other car was taken to a hospital for injury evaluation.

Gumercindo was in jail Monday on $30,000 bail.
